Hivirus

Hivirus.jpg

The Hivirus is not your common pet, nor your common predator. These creatures are very wild and often only found in the homes of rich merchants, or hunters. They don't care for warm lap cuddles or walks down the street. They love a good game, and a den full of flowers.

In the wild, The Hivirus is not a threat to kilds so long as they maintain their distance and respect the Hivirus's territory. Many Hivirus prefer to hunt things they can carry back to their dens quickly and safely, things that are easy for their young to digest typically. Their diet consists of small animals and insects. typically anything under two feet. They enjoy spending lots of time running around and playing, enjoying the open grass lands of Zevhiira, especially in the spring when the blooms have budded into exciting and fragrant displays. Something about the display of flowers and the nectary scent they give off is very exciting to the Hivirus. They typically will pluck many flowers and carry them back to their dens, some even carry seeds back to their dens to plant so that flowers will bloom near their homes. Sense the flower is commonly loved by Hivirus, they have a little secret they share amongst each other, that even kilds have picked up on. the "Flower Treaty".

The Flower Treaty

The flower treaty is a trading, expressing, and accepting pact the Hivirus use to express themselves amongst one another, and to kilds. Hivirus have an unending natural hatred towards anything imposing too close to their home, and are rather aggressive to anything that comes near them that isn't food.  This is due to the weakness of the Hivirus. Though they have sharp teeth and a fearsome frill, this does not excuse their weak and limber bodies. much like the Zugisians, the hivirus' muscles are made specially weaved in their bodies to grow tough and dense rather than buffed out, and just as the price of being thin and agile, they are easy to kill. Unlike Zugisians, however, these creatures have a leathery soft skin rather than protective scales. This skin can easily get scratched, stung, ripped, and torn. So most of their aggression, is display. Of course, this doesn't make the creature any less dangerous! they still can and will attack if they must! To keep them from starting unnecessary fights with their neighbors, they carry and decorate themselves in flowers. This is attractive to others of their species, and lets them know they aren't around to fight. Kilds have also picked up on this flower treaty, and often when traveling through Hivirus territory, will carry bundles of flowers with them to show they mean no harm. Often times, the Hivirus will investigate other's whom carry flowers, and it is proper to exchange flowers. the Hivirus may offer theirs, in exchange for one the other is carrying.

Families
Hivirus tend to have families of up to four pups, the mother and father stick together and raise them individually throughout their lifetime. typically  each pup takes about five years to fully mature. the pups have the choice to either stay at the den with their families, or leave to start a new family.

When starting a new family, often the males and females will gather abundances of flowers and heavily decorate themselves to show off their passion and choice of flora to impress their potential mate. When a mate is interested, they may leave their den to join their newly found partner by collecting similar, matching flowers, and showing them off to their interest. They may exchange small dances, songs, and scents with one another before fully deciding and searching for a place to make their new den.

Having a Hivirus as a pet

Hivirus makes for an interesting companion, though they should be looked at more as "your ass hole friend that hangs around" rather than your loving roxic or verin. Hivirus can be protective of their den and aggressive of outsiders, due to natural instinct, following this natural instinct is there love for a good game. They will play, tackle, and run circles around their pack members. Also their love for hunting small animals is something to be greatly taken into consideration. It may be difficult to have these wild companions around anything under two feet. That includes roxics, sephidias, valkors, and yes, kilden. When taking out your Hivirus, it is heavily advised that they are kept an eye on around smaller animals that they may want to try to hunt, and if possible, have a muzzle or lead of some sort on the animal to keep it from charging your neighbors kilden while they play ball in the front yard.

Some dukes and lords do not allow such wild pets in their land,  and is often something that would need to  be something you should speak to your empire's lords and dukes, just to make sure it is ok to own and tag / liscence one.

Biology

These creatures are fast and agile. they stalk their small prey and in a wink dart and leap after them. These creatures were built for speed, and bite. Their muscles are strong and weaved, much like the Zugisians. Their skin is a soft leathery texture, often described rubbery and thin. They come in many coloration depending on region, family, and age.

Their teeth are powerful and truly a terrifying display. The front four canines are able to slide out for a more lethal bite, then slide back in to properly close the mouth and chew.

The frills on the neck are able to be flexed outward and up, it is colored with a vibrant and very shiny inner coloration they use to blind, and scare predators and apposing threats away by flailing and shaking these frills while snarling.  They will often bob their heads as an assertive display as well.

Their back legs are very powerful, with clawed, almost hoof like toes, while the front legs have clawed fingers. They can use these to somewhat pick up things, though not as perfectly as a kild due to the position of their thumb. they will use their hands to hold and gather flowers, or to hold loved ones close in an almost hug like manor. Also to dig small animals up from the ground.
