Fluorescence
Kilds are fluorescent organisms, meaning they absorb a wavelength of UV light and re-emit that light at a much more visible wavelength in color. Kilds are not bioluminescent, they cannot produce their own light or "glow" rather just reflect the UV given to them more visibly. This UV is obtained by the solax moons, When both moons are aligned to be "full moons" the sunlight reflects off of their surface emitting precise electromagnetic radiation waves. There is enough UV to supply Anista with the necessary amount to excite fluorescence. This alignment is commonly known as Solaxus.

They have unique patterns on their scales that are coded with these fluorescent genes that specifically react to the UV. The outcome of this is a very attractive and vibrant display. Fluorescent coloration all varies depending on race and marking color. for example: Kaiibisians have white fluorescence, Vestanins have red, and Zugisians have cyan fluorescence. Types of Fluorescence and Markings
Common Fluorescence -- seen on kilds are often mocked up directly from their visual pattern (the pattern commonly seen on them without the UV light)
Flash Markings -- Kilds lacking genes to make visible and organized colored markings, but the fluorescent patterns are still there, usually not in any fancy or organized form, they will look a lot like blotches.

Silent Markings -- This title is given to markings that appear visually seamless. The color of their markings are so close to the kild's scale color it's hardly distinguishable. Fluorescence still effects these markings just as they would normal markings, showing their exotic, special markings.
Solaxus
This Event is the alignment of the moons, where both are side by side and parallel to Eliistia, creating double full moons. This happens once a month and is considered the day of love and celebration.

The chemistry behind this special day is formed from the UV of the moons exciting the fluorescence on the kilds, it feeds their bodies with hormones such as testosterone or estrogen and dopamine.
Typically, kilds have rather dulled sexual hormones, and on a normal day interests in reproduction is rather low, however, on Solaxus it is heightened and feels much more pleasurable. So it is rather common kilds will hold off reproduction for this day.
Though this day isn't only for that purpose, as many view this day differently depending on culture. Some use it as a day to gather and celebrate, others use it as an event mark for announcements or holidays.

The Solaxus effects you only if you absorb the light of the moons, so realistically, it can be easily ignored as just staying indoors and closing the windows like a rainy day. Some may wear more concealing clothing, or carry an umbrella if they truly do not want affected by this. having the light of solaxus on a kild won't drive them crazy until they mate, they can ignore the urges even out in the light. It will however leave them feeling high, drowsy and lazy. This is why many empires let their citizens take off work on Solaxus, due to it causing poor working quality for anyone outside. Some shops still stay open during the event if they desire.
