Disorders

-PAGE IS WORK IN PROGRESS-

Alike many creatures, Kilds have disorders both Psychological and Physical.

This page is just a small list of some disorders, and even diseases that kilds may have or get, and how they effect them.

Psychological Disorders

Kilds can develope tons of Psychological disorders just as we can, from Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Bipolar, Anxiety, Stress, Eating Disorders, Sleep Disorders, Disruptive and even depression.

These Psychological disorders may be ignored by their culture given in their era or culture it may be seen as  bad personality / temper, a curse, or an illness.

Physical Disorders

It's not uncommon for kilds to find themselves with some form of Psychological disorder, Physical disorders aren't always so common, however.  Many cultures will actually throw out the newly hatched kilden if they were to find a physical issue. It's heart breaking for some, and seen as a good thing to just start over to others.

Though this is a common practice, it's not always the case, and some are happy to deal with the physical disorders of their kilden, and raise them. This may cause issues in their life on a social scale sense it's uncommon, and may make it hard for them to get an equal grip on life as others do.

piebald vs vitiligo.jpg

Piebald and Vitiligo

These are two scale issues commonly mixed up, but should be separated.

vitiligo is a disorder prominently created from albinism, and is something that can be removed from family lines as long as the partner does not have albinism in their DNA. Vitiligo is spotted and blotchy scales that have no ability to make pigmentation. A kilden can be born with vitiligo, and it can move and shift as they grow, Spreading, or even thinning out and becoming almost invisible. This is because some scales will shed and grow back with fixed DNA, that it might've stolen from another. However, there is the possibility the scale may eventually shed and regrow without color again as another will steal it's fixed DNA in attempt to fix itself.

Piebald is a genetic disorder that can be specifically bred through families, and it's highly likely the offspring of said kild will have piebald, too. Piebald is often in large coverings over the body, it can take up full limbs without any splotches or scatters. Kilds born with piebald stay piebald, the coloration (rather lack there of) is permanent on their body from how they are born to full adult. The scales that grow back will specifically grow back in the same color as they were before.

Albinism

Often seen as a disease in many kild's cultures, Kilden born with albinism are often killed for their weakness. Often babies born with Albinism do not make it very far as they are much weaker in many ways than that of a healthy born kilden. Albinism effects Kild's pigmentation, making it hard for them to take much UV from the sun or moons, as a result it makes them all white with reddish purple, or blue eyes. secondly it effects their immune system--usually being much weaker; making it easier for them to get sick.

Albinos are often viewed as frail defenseless kilds and will tend to be looked after as such. Some kilds having the politeness to help them out when they see them struggling, others thinking they should have been killed upon hatching. some cultures even strongly believe that albinism spreads much the way that germs and bacteria does, though many have found it just happens and call it a curse upon their hatchling or family line.

Bone Deformity

Bone deformity can be prominent at birth, or happen when an injured or broken limb is not fixed or used.
Commonly the kild will have troubles using the limb, and may avoid using it, as well. It's usually not a good thing to avoid using a limb however, even if it is deformed. not using a limb will cause the muscle to get extremely weak and eventually the limb will become harder and harder to use and will likely further obstruct the bone. Then as some point, the limb may become unbearable to use. The best thing for a kild to keep from turning their limb useless is to carefully exercise their deformed limb at a comfortable rate. it may hurt, but continuously using the muscles will keep them from wilting away to nothing. This is especially important for kilds who do not have partners or large family members to look after them, or are counting on them. Thus it is important to learn to over-come this deformity to continue life successfully and usefully.

Soul Gem Diseases

As a large part of the anistian world, of course the soul gem would come with some issues on it's own. The soul gem is the kild's soul, not it's intellect or nature, not it's life, but it's personality. Who they are. Diseases on the soul gem can leave quite a dent on the kild's life. they typically form later in life for most kilds, earliest developments between ages twenty to forty.

Soul Corrosion

The most common form of soul disease. This disease is caused by the excess amount of exposure to Zagnetite and Zevhiite reactions.  and can be bothered by rain and water reactions after the corrosion is set in place.. Zugisians are at the highest risk of getting this as they are most commonly around these reactions.

Cure: There is no known cure for this corrosion, it continues to grow over the soulgem for as long as it is set in. The more the soul gem is overtaken by this corrosion, the more it clouds the kild's emotions and memories. It can overtake them in time, and cause them to loose emotional feeling, personality disorders my form causing them to become aggressive and cranky. Then they can eventually forget who they are, and become easily confused.

The best "cure" they have for soul corrosion, is to simply scrape and cleanse the soul each night. Scraping the corrosion off entirely will not keep it from returning, but as long as it is kept up with, the soul will not be as horribly effected. The corrosion does however effect beneath the scales, so it still grows, and proceeds to act as the disease does. Scientists are still hard at work to find a cure for soul corrosion, and so far have created numerous amounts of cleansing chemicals. the experiments are dangerous as some chemicals have found to have bad reactions towards soul gems, but some have proven well, and have helped prolong many lives from the death grasp of soul corrosion.

Cursed Soul

A more uncommon disease, can begin forming small bloody cracks along the soul gem at an early age of five ions of age. The bloody cracks burst behind the soul gem and leave black streaks and splotches behind and inside the gem. It can cause the soul to become highly fearful, overly protective, and overthink many operations of their daily life. They become highly anxious and struggle with anything that may harm them. This stems from the amount of bleeding they do throughout their life as the cracks in their scales around their soul gem widen and bleed. from time to time. These cracks are itchy and uncomfortable, making it hard to wear restricting clothes or make any physical contact to the gem. Touching and hugging can be quite painful for them. They may find themselves claustrophobic with this, and uncomfortable when too close to others.

Cure: There is no known cure for this disease. Scientists have tried various  mixtures and experiments with the few patients that were willing to test. But only held several failures... The best they have found is to apply moisturizer over the cracks consistently, this will keep the scales healing continuously, allowing to decrease the amount of bloodied cracks. But the cracks do scar, and after they become too wide, they will not mend back together.

Can this kill the kild? No. But it does cause a lot of pain, and can make their life very difficult and emotionally unstable. A few cases have been noted however, that the emotional disbalance it causes has made the unfortunate victims so distressed as to end their suffering by prying out or smashing their own soul gem.

Soul Spots

This disease is not spreadable, it is however hereditary. but is easily treated. It can form early as five ions of age, typically from harsh  emotional disbalances, (or an underlying bone disease. ) It can cause a kild to become tired and easily exhausted. It doesn't seem to effect memory or personality, just cognitive ability.

Cure: This disease can be cured with time typically. Emotional stability and self stabilization will allow these spots to fade as the mind is cleared and calmed. Some kilds can experience prolonged Soul Spots that remain throughout their life.

For those who retain these spots for prolonged time, they should be checked for underlying bone diseases, and potentially further emotional issues that should be worked through. Scientists also proscribe to them medication that can help balance the emotions, and better fade off the splotches.

Can soul spots kill a kild? Not really. The spots themselves are a sign of emotional disbalance, and with how easily curable they are, typically is not a threat to many. However, Cases of kilds purposefully bringing about their end or breaking their soul gems have been known from long term victims of soul spots. long term victims are often treated heavily in comparison to short term and young to keep from this.

Cracked Soul

A cracked soul is no disease, but can happen. Cracked souls are capable of surviving, but with several personality issues. It can cause kilds to forget things quickly, be delayed, tired, bipolar characteristics and excessive anger or sorrow can form abruptly. Kilds who suffer from cracked souls are typically victims to a violent act towards the soul gem,.

Cure: Time is the best cure. It may take several years, and much of the time the kild should not be moving to best let the gem cure. However, much like bones, they are not easy to mend and can become permanent if not treated immediately and carefully.

Can this kill a kild? Absolutely. The soul gem being cracked can cause several severing issues, and can destroy the mentality easily. Leaving the body a husk left to wither away without feelings or knowledge. The cracks alone can cause them to go about doing half hearted things, leading them to danger, or making them an easy meal for predators or an easy target for fate.
